On the 25th of October 2012, the National Association of European Trainers from Moldova (ANTEM) organized a roundtable to officially relaunch The Language Training Program for National Minorities in the Republic of Moldova for the period 2012-2013. The event was organized with the financial support of the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities in the Hague and the Government of Finland.
The program is implemented from September 1, 2012 in 13 regions of Moldova and it includes 375 beneficiaries working in the public sector. The purpose of the event was to strengthen the collaboration with the representatives from local and central authorities and to discuss the progress and needs within the project.
During the roundtable discussion there were mentioned the objectives and the priority directions of ANTEM’s activity, the needs of the program and the value of a bilingual and multilingual education. At the end of the event there were signed partnership agreements between ANTEM and the representatives of local authorities in order to ensure a further efficient collaboration on program implementation for national minorities from the Republic of Moldova (RM).
The event was honored by the presence of the following guests: Ion Ciobanu, the Minister of Youth and Sports of the RM, Ludmila Burlaca, the Head of Interethnic Relations and Languages Operation Department of the Interethnic Relations Bureau, Angela Popovici, the Head of Curriculum Policies Department of the Ministry of Education of the RM, Liubomir Chiriac, the Director of the Institute for Development and Social Initiatives (IDIS “Viitorul”), other representatives of ministries, general departments of education, town halls, police stations, experts and students of ANTEM.
During the event, all the participants remarked their intention to support the implementation of the Language Training Program and expressed their openness to have a fruitful collaboration with ANTEM in the future.
